French origami master Eric Joisel recently appeared on Japanese TV to show off some of his amazing creations. Below are a couple video clips from the show.

Video Clip 1: Masks, Dwarves, Hedgehog, Rhino. Orchestra, Box Figure

  • The hedgehog shown took 7 years to make.
  • Each figure in the ochestra is made of one piece of paper, with the instruments made from a seperate piece of paper. It took about a 1 meter by 1 meter piece of paper for each of the figures.
  • Towards the end of the clip we are shown some examples of the planning sheets he creates for his origami masterpieces. One plan uses a single sheet of paper to create a figure coming out of a box. The area outlined in blue shows the part of the paper that eventually created the box.

Video Clip 2: Lord of the Rings Characters

Eric has been a fan of the Lord of the Rings series since he was a child, so he challenged himself to create paper versions of Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas.
